🗳️ Green Action Day in Wigtown, Galloway!

SYG and the Dumfries and Galloway Greens are holding an action day in Wigtown at 11am on the 3rd of December to help elect Daniel Hooper-Jones! Daniel, who grew up in the ward, is an amazing, young and local candidate who would be the first Green on D&G Council if elected! Please get in touch with Daniel (@Danhojo) or @DG_Greens on Twitter if you need help to get there!

💚 Check out what goes on at Green Exec & Council!

As a party which stans democracy, the members of SGP Council and Exec (These are the main decision making bodies of the party) have made their minutes available for all members to have a gander at. You can find the minutes for SGP Council here. As well as, the minutes for SGP Exec right here. Just make sure you have your membership login deets handy! Thank you Sophie Brodie for the submission!

UPDATES
What’s been going on?

✨ SYG were at the SGP EGM, where voted and debated on motions and amendments!

📸 We have a new Social Media Officer in Amy Kettyles! This is the 2nd time Amy has swooped into to fill a vacancy on council, so we’re looking forward to working with them once again!

💚 Lastly, all our SYG working groups are up and running! Our applications are still live however, so if you would still like to get involved it’s only one application form away!

WE HEREBY STAN…
📢 Shout-outs for seriously fantastic folk

We have a joint shoutout this month, for Jen Bell (@rightsandroses) and Daniel Hooper-Jones (@danhojo) for being our young Green by-election candidates. In Linn ward, after Jen ran an incredibly dedicated and positive campaign, along with the support of so many members, achieved a 2% growth in Green vote share, placing 3rd overall! (ahead of the Tories!!). Daniel’s by-election is still to come but we wish him all the best!

OPPORTUNITIES ‘N THAT
A chance to join or chair!

✏️ A 3rd call for FYEG Contributors!

Ecosprinter are looking for contributors for their online publication! If you have an idea, a finished article, or something in between - get in touch via this link! (Thank you Hannah O’Sullivan for the submission!)

Strike on, Comrade!
Just as hot strike summer became the autumn of aggravation, we are now hitting the winter of discontent. Young people are the future of work and it couldn't be more important that they build solidarity.

The SGPTUG has already visited a number of branches and SYG groups, but if you or a local, university of national SYG would like to hear about what Young Greens can do to better protect themselves in the workplace, get involved with their union or just hear more about the frontline fights against bad bosses, we'd be happy to come along.

Just let us know via email at tug@scottishgreens.org.uk, or message us on Twitter @SGPtradeunion. (Thank you to the Trade Union Group for the submission!)

GOOD NEWS!
To brighten up your day ☀️

After protest, the UK Government finally invests in home insulation to the amount of £6 million. While we would like to see more investment, it is a step in the right direction from the UK government.

This is the last time you’ll hear from me in newsletter form this year! I hope you have a cosy and toasty festive season, and I hope to see as many of you as possible at Green events, supporting those striking or taking a well earned break as I know we’ve all earned one. Have a great December and see you on the other side of 2022, from me and everyone at SYG!
